READ’s Program Department, which includes
five Site Coordinators and is supervised by READ’s Program
Director, coordinates the set-up and support of our School
Year and Summer Reading Programs. As a result of careful
evaluation and monitoring by READ’s Program Staff and READ
Teachers, students achieve an average of one full grade
level improvement in reading.
READ’s Teen Department, which includes
a Teen Director, 2 Teen Managers, and a staff of part-time
Outreach Assistants, works with hundreds of community-based
organizations and middle and high school administrators
to recruit and train more than 1,000 READ tutors each year.
READ’s Development Department, which includes
a Development Director, Development Manager, and Development
Associate, cultivates relationships with prospective and
continuing supporters, which enables READ to provide programs
to the children and teens that need us most. Additionally,
READ’s development team is responsible for sharing READ’s
mission with the community through media and marketing efforts.

READ Employment Opportunities
READ is currently seeking a full-time Site Coordinator:
READ Site Coordinators report to READ’s Program Director
and monitor, support, and manage the performance of READ
program sites. The site coordinator must be highly committed
to READ’s mission and possess strong organizational, public
speaking, motivational, and interpersonal skills. Bachelor’s
degree required. Fluent Spanish Speaker preferred. Experience
with elementary-aged children and/or teens, literacy, and
the NYC Department of Education a plus.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing program
sites, including:
• Conduct tutor trainings in curriculum use, data collection,
and performance expectations.
• Support program start-up including student recruitment,
assessment, and program logistics.
• Support READ teachers in the management of student progress,
attendance and overall classroom management expectations.
• Implement tutor retention strategies to ensure a maximum
tutor retention rate and communicate tutor recruitment needs
to READ management.
• Support READ teachers in the management of tutor performance
and attendance.
• Monitor student progress through student data entry and
analysis.
• Evaluate READ teacher, tutor, and student performance,
and provide feedback to those parties.
• Support program completion including final assessments
and completion ceremony preparation.
• Maintain positive and constructive relationships with
principals/site administrators, teachers, and READ teachers.
