READ History

The Reading Excellence and Discovery (READ) Foundation was established in 1999 to address the high proportion of low-income students demonstrating below grade level reading skills.

READ’s founders chose a research-based educational approach, the Reading for All Learners Program (RALP) which is aligned with current reading research and the recommendations of the National Reading Panel. RALP yields measurable results for students and address reading difficulties before they become barriers to learning. At the same time, READ’s founders sought personal and professional growth opportunities for teens.
