Elementary schools:
READ might be a good fit for your elementary school if you have:
- 32-35 kindergarten and/or first grade students who are struggling with learning to read.
- Teachers interested in facilitating an intensive, cross-age tutoring program.
- Adequate classroom space.
- A sufficient supply of tutors nearby.
-- READ will recruit and train students from nearby middle and high schools to tutor in READ after-school programs at the elementary school
OR
-- READ will train fifth graders from the elementary school to tutor kindergarten and/or first graders at their school during the school day.
- Sufficient funds for READ fee of $8,500, which covers recruitment and training, all materials, and the services of a READ field coordinator for ongoing technical support.
- Compensation for teachers facilitating READ after-school programs.
READ is a contracted vendor with the New York City Department of Education to provide Academic Intervention Services (AIS) and Supplemental Education Services. SES services do not impact the school budget.

- would like to make a dramatic and positive difference in the life of a child
- need college recommendations and job references
- would like to benefit from life long professional development skills that will increase their success as students and future professionals.
